The Rude Man figured Florida would be his. “I’m confident that we’re going to win,” he told CBS television. “The people who won those (early) primaries, they got all the attention. Now what we have to do is establish ourselves here in Florida.“ What Giuliani has established himself as in Florida is a fourth place finisher in the latest polls, one percentage point behind Huckabee.
And Giuliani’s insurmountable lead in Jersey? “According to the most recent Quinnipiac University poll, released Wednesday, McCain actually edged past Giuliani in New Jersey, though the margin is too small to be considered statistically significant.” This comes after Rudy’s backers pushed for winner take all stakes in the Garden State.
How rude is the awakening? It’s so bad the former frontrunner now calls himself an underdog. Almost. He can’t bring himself to say it. Giuliani? He’s like an underdog. And he likes it. Or he doesn’t. Who knows?
“I like feeling like I’m an underdog,” Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City, said here Saturday. “I think underdogs get a lot of sympathy - they get a lot of support, they get a lot of interest. But who knows? Who knows if somebody is an underdog or not an underdog?“ ... ( more )
